Unfair (especially if you’re an experienced recruiter), but true

Is there any difference between a Recruiter whose fee is 20% and one whose fee is 10%?

Or a Recruiters whose fee is 40% and one whose is 25%?

The answer is “Yes”… But it’s probably not for the reasons you’d think…

I used to think that Recruiters who command higher fees do so because they have more experience, a better network, a more established business and logical things like that…

And although all these things CAN have an influence… They are not the deciding factor…

I’ve spoken to Recruiters with a wealth of experience but who still only charge 10%…

Recruiters who enter the market with zero experience and no network go straight in at the top end and charge 30-40%…

I still speak to established businesses who will accept fees of 12% or less…

And startups that wouldn’t get out of bed for anything less than 20%…

The only difference between a Recruiter who charges higher fees and one that doesn’t is SELF-ESTEEM…

Think about…

One Recruitment or Search Business Owners can THINK and BELIEVE their services demand fees of 25%…

And another in the same market, with more experience, a better network and a bigger business can still THINK and BELIEVE their services are worth 12%…

They’re both right!

The only difference is one has a more profitable set of beliefs…

But beliefs will only get you so far, because as you might think and believe your services are worth more… You still need the ability to convince your potential clients of this; otherwise, you’ll still get underpaid and undervalued…

I personally believe the ability to convince a potential client of your value is far more important than your actual ‘recruiting’ ability or experience…

Perhaps unfair (especially if you are an experienced recruiter), but it’s true…

Bottom line is this… You want to get higher fees?

You’ve got to be able to first believe your worth it, make the decision to accept nothing less and then work at your ability to convince potential clients of your value…
