My sons watch strangers on the internet

My two youngest boys who are 7 and 9, are into gaming and watching videos of other gamers play games on the internet…

It’s quite a popular thing to do for kids their ages and its big business…

Some of the more established gamers rake in 7 figures per year…

I thought it was strange at first, you know… Why don’t they just play the games themselves instead of watching other people play it…

But then as my youngest quite rightly pointed out, it’s not really any different from any other type of reality TV…

“Why do fully grown adults like watching shows like great British bake off when they could go into the kitchen bake a cake themselves…”

Anyway…

A few days ago I received an email from a mentor of mine who happened to be talking about one of the gamers my two sons follow…

Get this…

The guy (Dan from the diamond minecart) has 13 million subscribers to his Youtube channel and makes a shit load of money off merchandise and advertising…

He’s currently doing a tour, 14 cities, 2000 people per city and tickets go for a minimum of £30… All dates sold out in minutes…

He’s doing this in a saturated market! Bags of competition, low barrier to entry, playing the same game anyone can play, effectively offering the same service that anyone can offer…

There’s a few lessons you can apply to your Recruitment or Search Business…

1.) He releases DAILY content… not every other day, once a week or once a month

DAILY… why?

It keeps him top of mind!

And if his competitors are only putting out content once a month, or once a week, but he’s doing it daily… Who do you think his audience (who crave this content) are most likely to be drawn to…

Same applies to your Recruitment or Search Business…

2.) He keeps his videos VERY specific to his target market. Kids.

So he plays kids games, he speaks their language and he NEVER tries to ‘please everyone’. He’s not trying to be all things to all people, he’s just trying to appeal to his ideal clients and doesn’t care what anyone else thinks…

3.) He’s playing the game and not just spectating…

Think about this, he has 13 million subscribers… All who play the same games he does, I’m betting he’s not “the best” gamer out of those 13M Subscribers…

He’s just the best at marketing and promoting himself… And so he’s the one with the followers, tours, and revenue!

By the same token, it’s not the best recruiter who wins… It’s the recruiter who’s best at marketing and sales!
