Why GOOD Recruiters end up with AVERAGE results

 

As far as I’m aware, very few Recruitment or Search Business Owners ever set up in business with the goal of being just ‘average’,

They usually hope for a lot more…

Even so… What usually happens is, they go out and model what the average Recruitment or Search Business in their sector is doing…

For example, they’ll set their prices at about the average ‘going rate’ in their industry,

They’ll position what they do the same way as the average Recruitment or Search business in their sector positions what they do,

They’ll market and sell their services in the same way the rest of the market does… Sticking to ‘industry norms’,

If the rest of their sector only works on contingency, they feel like they too have to work on contingency…

If the rest of their sector cold calls to win business, they feel like they have to cold call too…

These things combined very quickly box them into being just like the average, run of the mill Recruitment or Search Firm…

They keep doing average things…

And keep getting average results…

They get fooled into treating their services like very ordinary commodities…

And the worst thing is…

If you do this, you’re encouraging your potential clients to think the same way…

They put you into the same box as every other Recruitment or Search Firm they’ve they’ve ever come across,

And more often than not,

Every other Firm they’ve come across hasn’t left the best impression…

So now you’re guilty by association…

If they’ve had a Recruiter that promised them the world but didn’t deliver … That’s now you…

If they ever had a Recruiter flood their inbox with irrelevant CV’s… Thats now you…

If they’ve ever had a bad experience in any way… Thats now you…

That’s why it’s important to stay very clear of ‘average’ in this industry…

You’re not ordinary…

Or at least you don’t have to be…

If you want to be viewed as the premium player in your sector, the one with the best service and who delivers the best results for clients… You need to stay away from average and market your business in a premium way…
